How to Clean and Maintain SPC and Flexible LVT Flooring

Build a practical cleaning routine for SPC and flexible LVT, covering loose grit, approved cleaners, spills, furniture protection and product-specific care.

Care for SPC and flexible LVT by removing loose dirt, cleaning spills promptly and using the maintenance method approved for the selected floor. Similar-looking vinyl products can have different finishes and installation systems, so keep the supplier’s instructions available rather than following a universal cleaning recipe.

Remove loose grit before washing

Inspect entrance areas and busy routes for dirt that can be carried across the surface. Use equipment that is compatible with the floor and check its wheels, pads and attachments for trapped debris. A robot cleaner is not automatically gentle; its suitability depends on the machine and the flooring guidance. Clean entrance mats and tools so they do not repeatedly return grit to the room.

Use a controlled cleaning method

Choose the cleaner, dilution and application method specified by the flooring supplier. Work on a manageable area and remove residue according to that guidance. Do not assume that an ordinary cleaning pass disinfects the floor. If disinfection is required for a particular setting, obtain compatibility advice for the actual chemical and intended frequency. Avoid improvising stronger mixtures in response to a stubborn mark.

Respond to spills and stains promptly

Identify the substance before treating it. Blot or remove the spill as appropriate, then use the approved stain procedure. Avoid spreading greasy or abrasive material across a larger area. Persistent staining, a loose joint or a damaged surface needs a different response from routine dirt. Consult the supplier before using solvents, polish, steam or a repair compound whose compatibility is unknown.

Prevent avoidable damage

Review furniture feet, chair wheels and entrance protection for the actual use of the room. Inspect protective pads and replace them when worn or contaminated. Keep spare material and the product code for future repairs. If an area repeatedly becomes wet, investigate the source rather than simply increasing cleaning. A brief care record is useful in commercial settings, especially when cleaners change or several staff share responsibility for maintaining the floor.
