Wood-Composite Flooring Equipment: Qualify the Material Before the Machine
Evaluate wood-composite equipment through polymer choice, fiber condition and representative material trials instead of assuming any recycled blend will work.
For a genuinely wood-fiber-filled composite project, material qualification should come before an equipment decision. Identify the polymer, fiber source and intended product, then ask the supplier to evaluate preparation and extrusion using a representative blend. A statement that a machine accepts waste plastics and natural fibers does not establish that every recycled mixture will produce a consistent, saleable product.

Confirm that the project is fiber filled
The term WPC is also used in indoor rigid-core flooring, where RFCI identifies an expanded polymer core. Do not assume that product contains wood flour. For a wood-composite board or decking project, specify the polymer family, fiber content basis and product geometry explicitly. A natural-fiber PVC board and a PE-based deck profile should have separate equipment and material discussions, even when both are described as WPC.
Characterize the proposed feedstock
For fibers, discuss source, particle condition, moisture control and storage. For recycled polymer, provide information on consistency, contamination control and supply variation. Do not base the project on an unsupported universal percentage of recycled content. Ask which material properties the supplier needs to assess before recommending preparation, feeding or screw configuration. Keep the identification of trial material so that a successful demonstration can be compared with later deliveries.
Review preparation and forming compatibility
Confirm whether mixing or compounding is separate from profile extrusion, and which preparation equipment belongs to the quotation. Discuss the intended die, shaping arrangement, cooling and haul-off with the chosen geometry. Changing a mold may also require changes elsewhere; ask the supplier to identify these rather than accepting unrestricted versatility. A named extruder type or imported PLC does not by itself prove compatibility with the proposed fiber and polymer blend.
Judge trials against the intended use
Request sample inspection for dimensions, surface appearance and any properties the product brief requires. Outdoor weathering or indoor emissions claims need appropriate evidence for the finished product rather than conclusions drawn from its ingredients. Record process conditions and observed material variation during the demonstration. Send Jiahao the product drawing and feedstock information first; the resulting discussion should establish whether a proposed equipment route is suitable and what further material work remains.
