WPC Flooring Care Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
Avoid common indoor WPC flooring care mistakes, including unapproved cleaners, excessive moisture, abrasive tools, furniture damage and unsuitable coatings.
For indoor WPC rigid-core flooring, the most useful care rule is to avoid treatments the supplier has not approved. Do not borrow advice for wooden floors or outdoor composite decking. The decorative surface, joints and installation build-up determine which cleaning and protection methods are suitable.

Choosing cleaners by marketing words
Natural, gentle and homemade are not proof of compatibility. Vinegar mixtures, oily cleaners, abrasive powders and strong chemicals should be assessed against the actual maintenance instructions. Mixing products can also leave residue or create an unsuitable cleaning solution. For a persistent mark, ask for a stain-specific method rather than applying progressively stronger products across the entire floor.
Ignoring water and cleaning equipment
Do not leave spills unattended simply because the product is described as water resistant. Check where liquid may reach joints, edges or the substrate. Review powered brushes, robot cleaners and steam equipment before use; compatibility depends on the product. A dirty pad or damaged wheel can mark a floor regardless of the machine’s advertised suitability. Maintain the tools as carefully as the surface.
Dragging furniture or trapping grit
Furniture movement and dirt beneath feet can damage the decorative finish. Plan how heavy pieces will be moved and protect the route appropriately. Inspect chair wheels and pads, especially in frequently used areas. Avoid assuming that thick soft material beneath every object solves the problem; support and protection must suit the flooring and the load. Remove trapped dirt before it is dragged across the room.
Adding coatings or ignoring exposure limits
Do not apply wood sealant, sunscreen coating, wax or polish without approval for the selected finish. If direct sunlight or local heat is a concern, review the supplier’s use conditions and the room’s exposure before choosing a remedy. Keep the product identity and maintenance guidance with the household records. If damage, lifting or discoloration appears, document it and seek advice before applying a treatment that might make repair more difficult.
